Design
The design of your website is probably the most important part of building it. Nothing speaks more to your customers and visitors about who you are more than the design itself. Knowing what you want your site to look like going into having it built is key to developing the vision properly. Thankfully, we have years of experience in this area, with everything from your basic blog to full-blown booking engines under our belt. You can count on us to pull the thoughts out of your brain and put them on a computer screen when you have your website built by Spring Hill Sites.
This aspect of the build is usually either the most or least time-consuming, depending on whether or not you know what you are looking for from the start. Honestly, anything helps us get closer to completion if you have something in mind. Even a basic sketch on the back of a bar napkin can help if you already have an idea of what you want it be. However, even if you don't have a clue as to the end result, don't worry. We're quite practiced in coming up with some marvelous mock-ups for you to peruse before deciding on a direction to pursue.
So Where Do We Start?
That's up to you really, but most of the time we start with a color scheme. Most folks go with a two or three color palette, with black and/or white used for contrast. If you look at this site here for example, we've gone with green as the major color, with yellow and light blue as minor colors, and white for contrast. It works because "Spring" is reflected in these colors (like "Spring" Hill, get it?)
After choosing a color scheme, if you don't have a logo yet, then that is probably the best next place to move onto, provided you want a logo that is. Logos can be as simple as your company name done up in a specific typography, or as detailed and imaginative as a company mascot. Again, if you have an idea as to what you are looking for, please share your thoughts with us. Otherwise, we can draft up some ideas and present them to you to see what you think. It's honestly all based on what your budget calls for.
Your Business Is Full Of Personality
A lot of the imagery to be used in your site will come from the business itself. The building, the people, the work you've done, the products you sell...all of these things can come in handy when building your site. If you already have images that you'd like to use (after all, YOU should have final say over what to show) then we'd love to see them. If you're not sure what you'd like to display, or just need pictures taken, then we can do that too. We have a full suite of image editing software to make sure that what we show is of the highest quality and reflects the feel of your company.
A layout is just as important of course, and some layouts are more conducive to specific business types. For example, a restaurant will typically use a "2-column" layout, where there is a wide column for content, and a thinner column for basic information, like phone number, operating hours, etc. If you'd like to try something more outside the box, we're happy to accommodate whatever you may be thinking, just please keep in mind that some of the more elaborate designs will require a certain amount of custom work that can make things more expensive in the end. Like all things, it's totally up to you and based entirely on the budget you can afford. We'll let you know what is in the price range you're looking for.
